Viljoenskroon Hospice was founded in 1993 and has been actively involved in Home-based care for terminally ill patients since its inception.

Traditionally we were caring for people suffering with terminal cancer and other life threatening diseases, until the HIV and Aids hit our community.

To cope with the escalating numbers of patients 14 Ladies from the community were trained in all aspects of HIV and Aids and Hospice Home-based Care. These dedicated Ladies still serve the community today.

Counseling and infection control has become an integral part of the service we provide. Since 1997 Viljoenskroon has been actively involved in delivering a service of HIV and Aids Information, Education and Communication and Destigmatization to our community.

Viljoenskroon Hospice is affiliated to Hospice Palliative Care Association of South Africa and was first started in 1994.   We aim to: Provide support and care for persons in the last phases of incurable disease, so that they may live as fully and comfortably as possibly. 

Hospice exists in the hope and belief that, through appropriate care and the promotion of a caring community sensitive to their needs, patients and families may be free to attain a degree of mental and spiritual preparation for death that is satisfactory to them.

Provide day-care Hospice for HIV and AIDS infected and affected orphans and vulnerable children, where they will be in a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment, where medical needs are met, nutritional food provided and child development monitored on a daily basis. Provide an education program to the disadvantaged community on all aspects of HIV and AIDS prevention, transmission, care and counselling.
